Use the same measurement unit for every book and shelf.
Check the dimensions against your book. Existing books and shelves will not be converted.
1. Your books
Enter spine thickness, front-cover width and upright height.
2. Your shelves
Enter each shelf compartment separately: usable width × depth × height.
Try each box in earlier containers first. Gaps may remain when no suitable placement is found.
3. Shelf display · upright books
Spines face forward. Books keep their upright orientation.
Allow gaps: at least 75% of the base must rest on boxes at the same height, with the centre safely inside the support area. Assumes rigid boxes with evenly distributed contents; check the physical stack for balance and lid strength.
Enter your measurements or load saved inputs. Up to 60 books and 8 shelves, including quantities.

How the planner works
The planner tries different book orders and placements, keeping the best arrangement found. It does not guarantee an optimal result. Books stay upright with their spines at the shelf front. Enable stacking to allow another upright book on top, using the selected support rule.
Use one unit for all measurements. Enter each shelf compartment separately. Allow clearance for your hands and measure any missing dimensions; thickness is never estimated from page count. The planner assumes rigid rectangular books and does not assess shelf load limits, book strength or leaning. Use bookends where needed.
Packing calculations and saved-file imports run on your device. ISBN lookups go through this site to Open Library and Google Books and may be cached. Camera frames stay on your device. Save your inputs before leaving; they are not saved automatically.
